I would tell that person to make a good search about the topic that he/she is writing about. It would be important to have a strong and clear thesis statement that would give a form and body to the whole paper.

In the last 10 weeks I got to know and learn a lot about the process involved in writing an essay. Is not only putting your ideas in a paper, but to organizing them and giving them a sense, so the reader can understand the purpose of the paper.

I think that I need to improve my punctuation. I have problems while deciding when and how to use commas.

Overall, it was a nice experience being in this class full with great classmates and a wonderful professor. I feel that now on writing is not going to be as stressful as it used to be, because now I know how to organize my ideas and what are the things needed to put together a paper.

At the end of this term......

My paper is almost done and to be honest I feel a little overwhelm. I still need to put more information, look up in other sources, and editing. Honestly is like writing a whole new 6-8 pages essay. I feel nervous to see how is going to be at the end. Of course I feel happy too, because "finally" I was able to plan, search, and write an essay in a organized way. In general I like to write, but not for strangers or to persuade someone about something. I like to write as a therapy, to express my feeling to my love ones. Now the idea of college writing changed a lot, for the first time in this term I did not struggle that much while trying to write and essay. Other topics that I would like to research will be the ones concerning the medical field, because I like those topic and is easier for me to find information about this.

It was a nice term!!!

My feelings......

Time goes by really fast! We are almost done with this term and I feel happy and proud of my self for achieving another goal. I have had some issues throughout this term, but nothing bad, just little things that have been easy to overcome.
So far I had only one comment in the 8 post that I have made, that is OK with me because one of my issues was that everybody could read my stuff, but I was wrong! hahaha no body did!! except for 1 person, and she left me a nice comment and good wishes, which I really appreciate.

I am really not planing to continue with my blog after the course is over, because I do not have a lot to offer to the readers.... I mean, I am not diminishing my self, but I am not a writer. One thing I would like is to become active in other blogs and post some comments that could be beneficial to start a discussion.

I really enjoyed this class, because it gave me the opportunity to write about the stuff going on in my life during the past 8 weeks. I think that writing is a nice anti-stress therapy.

Finally we are on the last weeks of this term!! I am so exited!!
Well... to be honest I do not like "peer reviews" I do not feel comfortable while doing so, because I believe that we all are in the learning process and we can make mistakes while reviewing others papers. At the same time, I do not like to criticize or comment on others papers, because many of my comments are going to be based on whether I like the paper or not. I did the two of my reviews so far and I tried to do my best, still did not like it!
When I was writing my paper I realized that is much easier to do it if you follow the guidelines. There are certain ways of writing a persuasive essay already establish and certain point that you must cover to do it in a correct way, so that was my "Ah Ha" moment. Even though I have written persuasive essays before I never followed the steps, which gave a lot of head aches trying to put together and idea or just the thesis statement.

While doing my research I found interesting, but not shocking the fact that many people do not give the same importance to oral health than to general health.

Adaptation

The last six weeks have been a little stressful for me. Not a big deal, but I just want to feel integrated and adapt to my new city. I have been living in Austin Texas for one year and I am still not comfortable here. A big issue is my "family" I miss them a lot. Moreover, my daughter started kindergarten last week, which is OK, but now I have a lot of spare time, I am thinking about adding another class next term to keep my self busy! I like the city and the people here is terrific, but we came here because of a job opportunity for my husband not because I wanted to. =0(
One think I know for sure is that I need to get over this, most of the time I am calling my mom or talking with my sisters on messenger, which is not healthy, because is harder for me to be here.

Another issue I've been dealing with is my research paper.....I have been thinking about changing my topic. I like the one that I have,but I do now how my thesis statement is going to persuade others, like I do not know how to make a point about it. I am thinking about writing about the importance of oral health among kids and their health. I feel more comfortable with this topic and I hope to do a better paper. There is a lot of research going out about how dental cavities affect health, so I definitively think that my paper can lead to more research!

Personal Writing Style!

Hello everyone!!
I did not have a personal writing style, until a couple of years ago. I was raised in Mexico, where I attended elementary school, junior high, high school, and college. Essays and research projects are not something that I was used to. I discovered about the art of writing until I started taking college classes in the U.S. I might say that I love to write anything and anywhere, I enjoy a lot free writing and brainstorming, because I can just put in a paper whatever I am thinking. It does not matter if my ideas are out of context or if I have some grammar mistakes, because I can came back and polish my work. Brainstorming, gives me the opportunity to connect one thought to another and so on. With this technique I can choose which are going to be my main ideas and which ones are going to be support ideas. In combination with these two techniques I can make a pretty decent draft in a short time.

Well.... now speaking about what changes have school bring to my life, I can say that they have been many. Now I am more aware of the Public Health problems that are going around my community and my city. I express my self better and clearer, because I have information and college education to back up my points of view. Overall, being in school has help me to become more confident about my self.

Borrowing Ideas......

Why is important to cite our sources??? I think that it is important to give credit to others for what they said, investigate, or thought. Just because an idea is not something tangible, it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist or belong to someone. When we cite our sources, we are saying that we barrow that information from someone else. Moreover, we can avoid law suit, school expulsions,or bad grades by following the simple steps to cite our sources. Plagiarism is immoral and a fraud, according the U.S law, "the expression of original ideas is considered intellectual property, and is protected by copyright laws" (Plagiarism.org, 2010).

If I had created something and someone else use it with out giving me credit, I would talk to that person and explain why is wrong to borrow ideas or productions from an existing source. Furthermore, I would try to get credit for my job either by talking to my superiors or professors, or by a legal matter.

Some issues of plagiarism that I can think of in professional settings is when a person writes a song and then because he or she did not register that song, someone else do it and get credit and money for it. This kind of issues should be handled according to the law copyright protection.

We can find anything on internet, all kinds of information from all kind of sources. It could be difficult to determine what is borrow or not. I think that all ends up on us; we should practice our moral values and be honest with our selves and others, in order to avoid problems.
